As professional body for a diverse membership base of library and information professionals in Scotland, CILIPS' role is similarly diverse. Our overall aim though is to support and promote the work of the sector, and our ongoing activities are focused on this end.

Our CPD programme and conferences draw library and information professionals together, facilitating collaboration, communication and the widespread dissemination of good practice across the community.

And our proactive advocacy strategy, usually working in collaboration with the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC), ensures that a clear and consistent case is stated for libraries in national policy development.
