2009 President’s Note for CILIPS Annual Report

Welcome to the CILIPS Annual Report for 2009!

It has been a great honour to represent CILIPS as its President for the last year. At the beginning of 2009 I highlighted three key themes which I wished to explore as President: networking and collaboration; disability awareness and accessibility; writing and publication for professional development. During the year I reported back to members in my Perspectives column in Information Scotland on the activities in which I was involved as President. At my visits to many different library authorities, I found many examples of good practice which demonstrated that CILIPS Members are working hard in all three key areas. What has impressed me most throughout this year is the dedication and passion which library staff show when providing services and in working to develop their own professional skills.

This report demonstrates the many ways in which the Officers of our professional association have worked tirelessly to advocate for libraries and support us in our chosen careers. However, they cannot do this alone and I would like to record my thanks here to all members of CILIPS who have given time and energy to promote the profession in Scotland.
