Funded by Creative Scotland, Many Voices was Scottish PEN’s 18-month project, bringing together Scottish and international writers to collaborate with marginalised groups and communities across Scotland, exploring through writing and discussion the themes most important to them. The aim of the project is to amplify voices and offer new platforms for stories that are often excluded from the public conversation. The themes explored include issues such as addiction, homelessness, growing up as LGBT young person, life as a refugee, life inside prison and writing in a minority language. This project has come about from partnerships with a range of committed partner organisations such as LGBT Youth Scotland, Move On, Fife College at HMYOI Polmont, International Women’s Group, Orkney Library & Archive, Apex Scotland at HMP Grampian.

Working with Flint & Pitch, we will celebrate this project with a showcase of the work produced by groups based in Glasgow, Peterhead, Polmont, Edinburgh and Kirkwall. This event will feature readings from the leading Scottish writers who worked with each group including Karen Campbell, Marjorie Lotfi Gill, Alison Miller, Nat Raha and Sarah Short.

As someone who has supported Scottish PEN’s work over the years we would be delighted to invite you to this event that is sure to be an inspirational celebration of the power of reading and writing to bridge divides and amplify voices.  The event will take place from 7pm on Friday, 2nd February at the Grassmarket Community Project in Edinburgh.

It is a FREE event but we would ask that you sign up for your ticket via the booking link.
