Scotland's People public library voucher scheme
Many public libraries in Scotland can now offer customers a discounted rate to access the ScotlandsPeople website, the official government source for genealogical data for Scotland with over 50 million records to access. It is run by a partnership between the General Register Office for Scotland, the National Archives of Scotland and the Court of the Lord Lyon. The website is enabled by brightsolid (formerly Scotland Online).
The website provides access to most of the Statutory Registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths from 1855, the Old Parish Registers prior to 1855, Census Records from 1841 to 1901 and Wills and Testaments up to 1901. More records are added every year.
Instead of registering online and purchasing 30 credits for GBP 6.00, library customers can now purchase 60 credits at GBP 6.00 for a starter account and 30 creditsits at GBP 4.80 for top up vouchers.
