#Library5 2020 Day 4

The penultimate day of #Library5 was all about celebrating Reading Champions – library staff, users, and others in the library community who celebrate the important benefits of reading and encourgae others to develop a love of reading and books. This was one of our favourtie days of Libraries Week as it really showed how valued and well used libraries are. You can check out some of the amazing content that was shared below.

  • St Ninian’s High School library celebrated the excellent pupils who make and take part in the school’s reading culture through sharing stories, recommendations, and borrowing lots of books
  • West Dunbartonshire Libraries said their Reading Champions are the excellent book groups that enage with the library, including the newly established digital book group
  • Alloa Academy Library shared some brilliant pictures of their Reading Champions – the pupils who make sure the library is so well-used!
  • Chirs Wilson, E-Services Librarian at CultureNL said his Reading Champions are all of the people who have joined in with the LibrariesNL Facebook book group over the past two years that it has been running – a brilliant 225 members now enjoy the group!
  • The pupils at Elgin Academy are definitely Reading Champions – check out this poem all about how magical libraries are from three avid school library users
  • Inverclyde Libraries shared reading selfies of some of their staff who are certainly Reading Champions. View them here and here.
  • The pupils at St George’s School show their enthusiasm for books and reading, making them the school’s Reading Champions
  • Residents of South Ayrshire are Reading Champions who have been continuing to use and enjoy their library service throughout the pandemic by making use of the excellent Connect and Collect service
  • ON Fife Libraries shared a picture of some of the staff members who have been championing reading during lockdwon by delivering books to their community
  • West College Scotland Librareis gave a shoutout to the Reading Champions at Scottish Book Trust and World Book Night, as well as their College colleagues, for the support provided to deliver events for Book Week Scotland
  • Library staff champion reading in many ways. One of the main ways is through providing reading recommendations to users, as East Lothian library staff have been doing
