Local Authority Changes

2018/19 Proposals

  • West Dunbartonshire Council will make changes to public library opening hours and staffing in both public libraries and schools. Following representation from CILIPS, proposals were consulted on with the public;
  • Clackmannanshire have proposed the closure of 8 community access points which contain libraries;
  • Inverclyde Council have proposed to close South West Library, move other branches to volunteer control and cut staffing numbers;
  • Moray Council are making a 50% reduction in the number of school librarians;
  • South Ayrshire have proposed the removal of school librarians and school library assistants;
  • Midlothian Council proposed to close all Branch libraries, operate a single site service and withdraw the mobile library – this was not taken as a saving;
  • Falkirk Libraries were proposing the closure of two branches.
