CILIPS supports Wee Read on 7th October 2026
Category: News
In partnership with the Scottish Library & Information Council, CILIPS is proud to support Wee Read: a simple, distinctly Scottish invitation to celebrate the joy of reading as part of the National Year of Reading 2026.
Ahead of Wee Read on Wednesday 7th October, we are encouraging people across Scotland to make a pledge to take part in this national reading moment – whether they plan to read for five minutes or fifty!
Everyone can take part: from wee ones discovering their first stories to lifelong readers, Wee Read is for every age, ability and interest. Whether it’s a few pages or a whole book, a comic, magazine, newspaper, recipe or poem, every read counts.
And of course, local libraries will be the gateway to Wee Read: encouraging people to visit their local branch, discover something they’ll enjoy and explore the huge range of free reading materials, resources and activities available.
Eager to get involved? Here’s how you can support Wee Read:
- Make and share your own Wee Read pledge at www.WeeRead.scot
- Display the Wee Read supporter badge on your library website and in your email signature
- Share Wee Read information with your colleagues and library community, encouraging them to take part online too with the hashtag #WeeRead26
Best of all, you don’t need to create anything from scratch – a toolkit of ready-to-use content and campaign materials are available to help you get involved at www.WeeRead.scot.
Thank you, CILIPS members, for joining us in bringing the joy of reading to Scotland!
