Funding Options for CILIPS Annual Conference 2021

 

There are several sources of funding available to allow as many members as possible to attend our 2021 Conference.

Our Professional Development Fund offers financial assistance to members who wish to undertake professional development activities, with the deadline for applications at 3.00pm on 26th February 2021. Click here to apply.

The Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) is also in the position to offer CILIPS 2021 Conference bursaries. To apply, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Work for a public library service in Scotland
  • OR work for a school library service
  • OR FE Library
  • Be a current member of CILIP – you should submit your membership number on your application
  • Submit a résumé of no more than 500 words outlining why you would like to attend the conference and what learning you anticipate taking back to your workplace

Please note: the SLIC bursary will cover the full conference delegate 2 day package.

We’re also very pleased to share some funded places for conference delegates that are offered by CILIPS regional branches and special interest groups.

CILIPS Tayside Branch is offering a total of four funded places for delegates: two on 7th June and two on 8th June. Applicants are asked to write a short paragraph explaining why they’d like to attend the conference and how they think it would help their professional development. The successful applicants will then be asked to write a report about their experience at the conference to go on the CILIPS Tayside website. CILIPS Central Branch is offering one funded place covering both days of the conference. Applicants are asked to submit a short statement of around 100 words, explaining why they would like to attend. The successful applicant will be asked to write a short summary of the highlights of the conference, to be used on the Central Branch page of the CILIPS website. To apply or enquire, please contact Branch Secretary Yvonne Manning at cilipscentralbranch@gmail.com by 5pm on the 16th March.

CILIPS East Branch are offering two sponsored places for East Branch members to attend the conference. Preference will be given to applicants who wish to attend the whole conference and the successful applicants will be asked to write a conference report for the branch. To apply, please email Branch Secretary Susan Boylan at sboylan@eastlothian.gov.uk with 100 words why you would like to attend by 5pm on the 31st March.

Public and Mobile Libraries Group Scotland (PMLG) is offering one funded two-day place for a delegate, with applicants asked to write a short statement of 100 words about why a conference place would make a difference to them, what they hope to gain from attending and how they will use the knowledge gained. Applicants should:

  • be a CILIPS member working in a public or mobile library setting
  • have not attended conference before or for a number of years
  • agree to use social media during the conference to share information
  • write 500 words about the conference for the PMLG website afterwards.
