CILIPS Professional Development Fund

Deadline 7th March

The CILIPS Professional Development Fund aims to provide financial assistance to members wishing to undertake professional development activities related to enhancing skills in the information profession, including attendance at conferences like CILIPS25. The current call for applications is for events taking place between 1st April and 30th June 2025, and the deadline for applications is 12pm on Friday 7th March 2025.

Priority will be given to applicants currently undertaking CILIP Professional Registration – Certification, Chartership, Fellowship and/or Revalidation – and in all cases, applicants should specify where their proposed professional development activity links with areas of the Professional Knowledge & Skills Base.

When you apply via the online form, you will be asked for a short (300-500 words) supporting statement detailing:

  • Your reasons for attending CILIPS25.
  • Whether or not you are currently undertaking (or planning to undertake) CILIP Professional Registration – Certification, Chartership, Fellowship and/or Revalidation.
  • Which areas of the Professional Knowledge & Skills Base you see as linked to CILIPS25.
  • How attendance at CILIPS25 will assist your career development.
  • You will also be asked to give a breakdown of the costs involved in your attendance at CILIPS25; whether you have benefited from any other CILIP / CILIPS awards within the last five years; and whether you have previously attended a similar event (giving details if so).

Applications will be considered by a Sub-Committee of the Trustee Board and all applicants will be informed of the decision by email as soon as possible after the closing date of 12pm on Friday 7th March.

SLIC Bursaries

Deadline 10th March

If you are a CILIP member working in a Scottish public, school library or further education library you can apply to attend through the SLIC CILIPS Bursary Scheme.

To apply for a bursary, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Work for a public library service in Scotland; OR
  • Work for a school library service; OR
  • Work for Further Education Library and/or Learning Centre.
  • Be a current member of CILIP – you should submit your membership number on your application.

Complete the online form and include a summary of no more than 500 words outlining why you would like to attend the conference and what learning you anticipate taking back to your workplace. You will also need to check with your line manager that you can attend the conference for the full two days.

Applications should be submitted via our online form by 5pm on Monday 10th March at the latest.

Please note: the bursary will cover the full conference delegate two-day package and delegates are expected to be present for the full conference. Travelling expenses are not included. The bursary is non-transferable.

Specialist Library Bursaries

Deadline 28th March

Thanks to a generous donation from a CILIPS member, we are delighted to offer two full Annual Conference bursaries for CILIPS members working in specialist libraries.

Any CILIPS member who is working in a library outside of academic, public or school libraries may apply for this fund, as the donation was supplied to support those who may not be eligible for other avenues of funding support.

The bursary includes a full two-day place at #CILIPS25, one night of accommodation and a place at our awards dinner on the evening of Monday 2nd June. Please note that travel expenses are not included in the bursary.

To apply, please submit a statement of up to 200 words on why you would like to attend the conference by 4pm on Friday 28th March.

Branch and Group Sponsored Day Places

Central Branch

Deadline Friday 21st March

CILIPS Central Branch is offering one funded day place at the CILIPS Annual Conference. Applicants are asked to submit a short statement of around 100 words, explaining why they think they would benefit from attending the conference. The successful applicant will be asked to post on X during their day at the conference, tagging @CILIPSCentral.

Tayside Branch

Deadline Friday 21st March

CILIPS Tayside Branch is offering a total of four funded day places for delegates: two on Monday 2nd June and two on Tuesday 3rd June.

Applicants are asked to write a short paragraph explaining why they’d like to attend the conference and how they think it would help their professional development. The successful applicants will then be asked to write a report about their experience at the conference to go on the CILIPS Tayside website.

As these places are funded by former TAFLIN funds, applicants who live or work in Tayside or Fife are welcome.

West Branch

Deadline Friday 21st March

If you are a member of CILIPS West Branch and would like to attend the CILIPS Conference, we would welcome your application for a sponsored day place.

To apply: send a paragraph on what you would get out of attending and that you agree to write up a blog post for CILIPS West on what you enjoyed or got the most from. Let us know which day you would prefer to attend.
