This training for school librarians in Scotland will focus on how to deliver sessions to pupils on spotting visual hoaxes, be that video or image-based, as well as unreliable news sources. An important part of the session will be how to do basic fact checking of claims you see online, and the training will also focus on social platforms primarily used by young people such as TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.

This session is in partnership with The Ferret. The Ferret have four years’ experience of delivering and developing courses on fact-checking, verification and ‘fake news’, and are the only International Fact-Checking Network accredited fact-checker in Scotland. They have given bespoke courses and workshops to student groups aged from S1 level through to university, as well as for community groups, charities and public sector organisations.

This session will be delivered via Zoom. Please register here and we will be in touch closer to the time with information on how to join the session.
