Managing a School Library

A schoolboy smiling and giving thumbs up in front of school library shelves.

We know the positive impact of an effective school library and the benefits reading for pleasure can have: improving general knowledge; raising attainment; information literacy and digital fluency; facilitating identity exploration (particularly among marginalised learners); increasing empathy, wellbeing, and good mental health. We view this document as a cooperative and evolving work, not a final statement on how to manage a school library, but a bank of ideas open to contributions and suggestions from all school librarians. We hope you find it helpful, and please share your suggestions for future themes and topics in our Managing a School Library Guide padlet.
