Why Children's Rights Matter in AI: A Resource for Professionals from the Scottish AI Alliance.

As we prepare for our upcoming webinar (our most popular online event of 2025 so far!) to report the project outcomes from GenAISiS: Generative Artificial Intelligence Skills in Schools, we know that library professionals across Scotland are eager to harness our unique skills in information literacy and our commitment to upholding the CILIP Ethical Framework in order to support children and young people in navigating an increasingly complex online landscape.

In partnership with The Alan Turing Institute and The Children’s Parliament, The Scottish AI Alliance – from where Gordon Johnstone will also be joining us at the Green Libraries Conference to discuss AI and Sustainability, in conversation with Society of Authors sustainability steering committee chair Piers Torday – has developed resources to help educators and professionals learn about AI through the lens of children’s human rights.

Why Children’s Rights Matter in AI: A Resource for Professionals contains five eLearning modules (with a certificate available upon completion) that explore the importance of children’s human rights in AI, aimed at giving adults an introduction to children’s human rights in an AI context, and how to best ensure that our work in developing, deploying or making decisions around AI technologies can respect and protect children’s rights.

Discover it and a range of additional resources on the Scottish AI Alliance website.
