CILIP, the UK’s library and information association, and CILIP in Scotland (CILIPS), the Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation for members in Scotland, have signed a new agreement to provide support, advocacy and representation across the UK while recognising the distinct constitutional and legislative context in Scotland.

Members who live and work in Scotland will continue to enjoy membership of CILIP and receive dedicated support and representation from CILIPS. The new agreement comes into effect on 1st August and will see CILIP register as a cross-border charity while CILIPS will continue as a legally distinct charitable organisation affiliated to CILIP.

Duncan Wright, Chair of the CILIPS Board of Trustees said “I’m delighted with the new partnership agreement that will ensure members in Scotland continue to get support from CILIP in developing their skills and progressing their career; whilst also seeing dedicated Scottish campaigns, advocacy, events and support.”

Karen McFarlane, Chair of the CILIP Board of Trustees said “I am delighted to sign the new agreement, which highlights the importance of co-ordination across the UK while working effectively in Scotland to represent members’ interest and advocate for their value.”
