CILIPS backs #ebookSOS

At their November Board meeting, the CILIP Scotland Trustee Board agreed to back the #ebooksos campaign and fully support calls for immediate action by publishers and aggregators to introduce more sustainable and affordable pricing models for e-books and e-textbooks. This followed the campaign being featured at our CILIPS Conference in June 2022.

As part of this backing CILIP Scotland have agreed to:

• Back this joint statement and subsequent statement position on Wiley’s withdrawal of access to ebook titles made by a group of partners including CILIP UK and SCONUL.
• Engage more closely with partners, such as the practitioners who run #ebooksos on a voluntary basis, to ensure we take appropriate activities in Scotland and are fully aware of the issues involved and what we can do to help.
• Continue to carry out Scotland-specific advocacy activities to support the campaign, building on our 2022 conference session.
• Engage with our communities and members to share information about the campaign and build awareness.
