Audio-Print Accessibility – ‘The Fact Factory’ Free Trial for Scottish Libraries

Category: Blog

The Fact Factory is a new monthly magazine whose mission is to make reading fun and accessible to all. It is written and recorded with marginalised young readers in mind, including children with dyslexia, visually impaired readers, readers with a reluctance to read, and EAL children, and works by combining audio and text.

All content (bite-sized facts) is recorded by children (through Andy, Izzy, Brody, Heidi, Sayid and Brooke). These characters deliver fun and interesting facts about animals, insects, the body, famous people, sea creatures and iconic buildings every month. The Fact Factory is available in both digital and print format. The digital edition comes with videos, interactive quizzes and text highlighting (in time to the audio), while the print edition, with the G-Talk3 pen, enables the child to listen, read and record every word.

On a first-come, first-serve basis, The Fact Factory are offering a limited number of free trials for CILIPS members to try out the service in their libraries. All library services are eligible, including public and school libraries, and if your library then decides to place an order, they’ll be offered a 10% – 15% discount, depending on the order size.

If you’d like to learn more or take up the offer of a trial, please contact Colette Brooks at colette@audiomagmedia.com. You can also discover more online about The Fact Factory.
