CILIP Scotland have signed the Green Arts Charter!

Creative Carbon Scotland: Green Arts Charter. Showing a green background with four yellow illustrations: a graph, three people conversing, a handshake and scales representing climate justice.

Developed by Creative Carbon Scotland and growing from SPRINGBOARD 2023, the Green Arts Charter aims to inspire, support and provide a framework for cultural organisations in Scotland to deliver the climate action needed to achieve transformational change. We have pledged to:

  • reduce our emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change
  • inspire our communities and collaborate with others to deliver climate action
  • advocate for climate action and influence for change; and
  • embed climate justice in our organisation and any climate action we do

Being part of the Green Arts Charter serves as a great complement to all our activities already inspired by the Green Libraries Manifesto, and we hope that our contribution to it will play a part in centring library-led environmental action within a wider Scottish cultural context. This work will inform the latest iteration of our Carbon Neutrality Plan in advance of the 2024 CILIPS Annual Conference, helping hold us to account and ensure this year’s event is the greatest, greenest celebration of our sector in Scotland yet!
