Love Libraries launches on Valentine’s Day!
Category: News
Love Libraries is a nationwide campaign to encourage more people to join libraries and make use of all they have to offer. It focuses on the impact and value of libraries everywhere. National Librarian and Chief Executive of the National Library of Scotland, Amina Shah says:
Libraries in Scotland are part of a network and we want to take the opportunity, in the National Library’s 100th year, to celebrate all kinds of libraries and the impact they have on people’s lives. During times of challenge and uncertainty, there is an opportunity to remember the power of sharing space, stories, knowledge, memories and information. The purpose of libraries, at their very heart, was always around community. That seems to be very much the spirit that people are returning to which is heartwarming and hopeful.
The campaign is organised by the National Library of Scotland and sector partners including CILIPS, the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC), the Association of Public Libraries Scotland (APLS), and the Scottish Confederation of University and Research Libraries (SCURL). The National Library of Scotland wants to use its centenary year as a platform to support and promote libraries of all kinds. Please join us!
Case Studies
Scotland’s libraries are the heart of our communities, schools and higher education institutions, offering a wealth of resources and services. The Love Libraries campaign aims to celebrate these successes: reinforcing the value of libraries and library staff, engendering public appreciation, encouraging greater use of libraries, promoting fun and wellbeing, and championing and raising awareness of library services.
