The Candidate Impact Statement: Support for Professional Registration candidates
Category: Blog, Professional Development
Written by CILIPS Professional Registration Support Officer Gill Black
CILIP appreciates that candidates who are neurodivergent or who have a disability or health issue could face particular challenges in undertaking Professional Registration. CILIP has created a Candidate Impact Statement form so that you can inform Member Services of this.
When you enrol on your chosen Professional Registration path, whether Certification, Chartership or Fellowship, CILIP Member Services will send you the Candidate Impact Statement form. Don’t worry if you no longer have this email, as the form can also be downloaded from the following highlighted section of the Professional Registration Candidates’ Group on the CILIP website:
The impact statement form is quite open with lots of scope for you to tell us what you think we need to know. You should include what the condition is, what the impact has been and how this has affected you putting together your portfolio or submission.
If the impact is such that you are unable to complete the form, please contact Member Services directly to discuss memberservices@cilip.org.uk
What happens after you send in the Candidate Impact Statement?
It is important to note that each statement is dealt with on a case-by-case basis, but the general process is that Member Services will review your form to see if adjustments should be made, with the aim of placing you on the same footing as a candidate without any such condition.
The impact statement will be given to the assessors along with the submission to provide relevant context to your submission during the assessment process.
Confidentiality
The impact statement is covered by CILIP’s wider data protection strategy. We appreciate that it includes private data and will be dealt with accordingly. The contents of the form will only be shared with those directly involved with the professional registration process and only so far as is necessary.
