SNPC Chair Vacancy

Category: Blog, New Voices, New Voices, News, Professional Development

The committee for the CILIPS Students and New Professionals Community is accepting applications for the role of Chair. The Students and New Professionals Community is a dynamic branch of CILIP Scotland. Our aim is to help people in the early part of their careers in the library and information sector to connect, share information and advice, and to network.

The Chair supports this goal by leading meetings, reporting to the CILIPS Council (bi-annually) and generally supporting the work of the committee where needed. This would be an exciting opportunity for professional development and to demonstrate innovation and leadership in a committee role.

If you are interested in the role, please send a statement of 250 words indicating your reasons for applying and any relevant skills and experience to snpc@cilips.org.uk. Please note that previous committee experience is not necessary.

For more information or an informal discussion about the role, please contact the above mail address to arrange a chat with one of our committee members, we’ll be happy to answer your questions!

Role description

The Chair would be expected to lead committee meetings, hearing updates from other members and offering opinions and ideas. The main task is to manage SNPC initiatives through productive conversation, delegation, and collaboration.

This includes but is not limited to responding to enquiries regarding CILIPS SNPC, researching relevant resources and seeking out opportunities, attending SNPC events as well as other CILIPS groups/branches meetings and events. Note that some meetings and events are held during weekday working hours.

Applicants should be students or new professionals in Scotland, and we are especially interested in receiving applications from students at this time.
