SNPC Events Coordinator Vacancy – Our Students & New Professionals Community Wants You!

Category: Blog, News

The committee for the CILIPS Students and New Professionals Community is accepting applications for the role of Events Coordinator. The Students and New Professionals Community is an emerging and dynamic branch of CILIP Scotland. Our aim is to help people in the early part of their careers in the library and information sector to connect, share information and advice, and to network.

To that end, the Events Coordinators develop and deliver networking events and workshops on topics relevant to our members. Working with our existing Events Coordinator, this would be an exciting opportunity for professional development and to support the Students and New Professionals Community.

If you are interested in the role, please send a statement of 250 words indicating your reasons for applying and any relevant skills and experience to

For more information or an informal discussion about the role, please contact the above email address to arrange a chat with one of our committee members.

The deadline for applications is 16 April 2021.

Role description

The Events Coordinator would be expected to attend and participate in committee meetings, offering opinions and ideas. The main task of the role is to develop, plan, organise and deliver SNPC events. The postholder would collaborate with the existing Events Coordinator to share responsibilities.

This includes but is not limited to developing event programmes, finding speakers when relevant, and hosting events on the day. Note that some events will be held during weekday working hours. The Events Coordinator should also help manage event booking forms and attendee lists, and organise pre- and post-event communication. Finally, the committee member would collect feedback from officers, speakers and attendees about the events and how they are run.

Applicants should be students or new professionals in Scotland, and we are especially interested in receiving applications from students at this time.
