SNPC Social Media Officer Vacancy – Our Students & New Professionals Community Wants You!

Category: Blog, News

The committee for the CILIPS Students and New Professionals Community is accepting applications for the role of Social Media Officer. The Students and New Professionals Community is an emerging and dynamic branch of CILIP Scotland. Our aim is to help people in the early part of their careers in the library and information sector to connect, share information and advice, and to network.

To that end, the Social Media Officer manages the social media accounts (currently Twitter) to share our news, job postings and other relevant information of and for the community. This would be an exciting opportunity for creative professional development that would support the Students and New Professionals Community

If you are interested in the role, please send a statement of 250 words indicating your reasons for applying and any relevant skills and experience to snpc@cilips.org.uk.

For more information or an informal discussion about the role, please contact the above email address to arrange a chat with one of our committee members.

Role description

The Social Media Officer would be expected to attend and participate in committee meetings, offering opinions and ideas. The main task of the role is to create and maintain an active and dynamic online presence for the SNPC. The postholder may also collaborate with other members of the committee or CILIPS for specific campaigns.

This includes but is not limited to planning a weekly schedule of Tweets, monitoring Twitter for posts that would be interesting or relevant for the community, and collating job postings to share. Note that while posts may be planned ahead of time using Twitter’s schedule option or Tweetdeck, it may be useful to be available to access the account during the workday.

Applicants should be students or new professionals in Scotland, and we are especially interested in receiving applications from students at this time.
