CILIP BAME Network

The CILIP BAME Network was established in 2019 to create a forum for librarians and information professionals from Black Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds to support one another, network, and share experiences. Working with CILIP and other partners, the Network will support the advancement of BAME professionals in the workforce and the development of diverse library, knowledge and information services.

The launch of the CILIP BAME Network is an important step in addressing the under-representation of people of colour within the library and information workforce, as identified in the CILIP/ARA Workforce Mapping data (2015).

The BAME Network is free to join and open to any BAME LIS professionals, whether a CILIP member or not. Non-BAME professionals can also support the Network by signing up to the Allies Forum. More information on how to join the BAME Network and Allies Forum can be found here.

A BAME Network Steering Group has been formed to manage the CILIP BAME Network initially until committee elections take place in the autumn of 2019. Further details about elections will be made available closer to the time.

The Inaugural Meeting of the BAME Network will take place on 12th September 2019 at University College London.
