CILIP BAME Network

The CILIP BAME Network was established in 2019 to create a forum for librarians and information professionals from Black Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds to support one another, network, and share experiences. Working with CILIP and other partners, the Network will support the advancement of BAME professionals in the workforce and the development of diverse library, knowledge and information services.

The launch of the CILIP BAME Network is an important step in addressing the under-representation of people of colour within the library and information workforce, as identified in the CILIP/ARA Workforce Mapping data (2015).

The BAME Network is free to join and open to any BAME LIS professionals, whether a CILIP member or not. Non-BAME professionals can also support the Network by signing up to the Allies Forum. More information on how to join the BAME Network and Allies Forum can be found here.

The Inaugural Meeting of the BAME Network took place on 12th September 2019 at University College London. You can view the presentation slides from this event here.
