CILIP Scotland Honorary Members 2025
Honorary membership is awarded by CILIPS for outstanding services to CILIPS, libraries, information services or the wider profession. This year’s list was ratified by the CILIPS trustee board and then approved by CILIPS members at our annual general meeting on the 6th May 2025.
Anne De’Ath
Anne is nominated for her dedicated advocacy work on behalf of school libraries across the UK. Having worked as a school librarian for many years including in East Renfrewshire and at Hutchesons Grammar in Glasgow, Anne retired in 2024 but still remains an active part of the CILIPS School Libraries Group Scotland. She has been the Scottish representative on the Great School Libraries campaign and has engaged with partner organisations and politicians to make sure they understand the value of a school library and its staff.
Jean Priestley
Jean has, at various points over the decades as part of the CILIPS East Branch committee, been the chair, secretary or treasurer. At times when the committee was a stalwart trio, she kept the group going and continues this work now that the numbers have blossomed. The branch has relied on and majorly benefitted from her attention to detail, keen ear and sense of humour!
Andrew Givan
Andrew worked at Renfrewshire Libraries for 30 years, recently moving to Inverclyde Libraries. Maintaining such a strong commitment to the profession, Andrew has been a member for many years and has always keenly promoted the value of CILIPS membership. His entire career has been motivated by a huge amount of work to constantly ensure that the culture of libraries and the library profession are integral to the children and families of Renfrewshire.
