Read, Write, Count resources for librarians

Category: Blog, News

The contents of a Read Write Count bag 2022.

Were you inspired by this brilliant blog for Book Week Scotland in which Maggie Still from Scottish Book Trust shared how the Read, Write, Count book bag gifting programme helps children across Scotland to begin their journeys as lifelong readers? Then don’t miss this fantastic collection of Read, Write, Count resources – especially for librarians!

The team at Scottish Book Trust have put together 20–30 minute sessions for each of this year’s Read, Write, Count titles so that you can run interactive family sessions in your library. Each session includes reading the book together, songs and rhymes and tie-in activities and arts and crafts. They have also put in some ideas for follow-up sessions, allowing you to revisit the books throughout the year.

Whilst Read, Write, Count gifts bags to children in P2 and P3, these sessions can be kept open to all families, and they don’t rely upon the families having prior knowledge of the books. An editable promotional poster is also coming soon!
