Graduate Trainee role at CILIPS

Graduate Trainee (Fixed-Term 24 months, Full time)

Salary: £21k


Purpose and description of role: To support the Head of CILIP in Scotland SCIO (hereafter referred to as CILIPS) in the delivery of the CILIPS Annual Delivery Plan and the objectives set by the CILIP/CILIPS Service Level Agreement.

To undertake a 2-year training programme as set by the Head of CILIPS whilst carrying out tasks supporting the CILIPS membership.

Travel will be required as part of this role but it will primarily be based in the CILIPS office in Glasgow.

For applicants currently completing post-graduate dissertations, a flexible working or part time arrangement may be possible on a temporary basis; after which the post-holder will be required to move into a full time working arrangement.

Responsibilities of role:

Communications and website

  • Create regular online communications for CILIPS members.
  • Update CILIPS website and provide support for web editors in CILIPS branches and groups.
  • Act as contact point for branches and groups and CILIPS wider membership.
  • Develop content for CILIPS social media channels.


  • Provide administrative support for the CILIPS office including database and file management and financial administration e.g event invoices.

Advocacy and Campaigns

  • Carry out regular campaigning and advocacy work, supporting library and information professionals.

CPD and events

  • Support the delivery of CPD activities for CILIP members in Scotland including an Annual Conference and other one day events.

Membership retention and growth

  • Work with the CILIP sales and marketing team on targeting activities and engagements to drive membership growth in Scotland.
