REVEAL Project 10. How to Do Values-Driven Advocacy

REVEAL Project: Reinforcing Ethics and Values for Effective Advocacy for Libraries. Dr David McMenemy, University of Glasgow.

Video 10 in the REVEAL Project series, led by Dr David McMenemy at the University of Glasgow and supported by the CILIPS Research Fund, brings together discussion from the previous nine videos to reflect on how we do values-driven advocacy in libraries.

It explores arguments for libraries grounded in Sandel’s ethical approach: welfare, freedom and virtue, also considering the importance of speakers, message, audience and context. The video then discusses rhetorical themes and advocacy, advocacy and controversial issues, and explores a scale of resistance example in the form of Drag Queen Story Time.
