#Library5 2020 Day 3

Day 3 of #Library5 saw us celebrating all things digital! We asked libraries and librarians to share the ways that people can access their services online. While physical library services are essential, libraries also do so much excellent work to ensure their services can be accessed remotely, which has been espeically crucial this year. Read on to find out about the digital offer from various types of libraries:

  • SNHS library highlighted that school librarians have been working really hard to deliver services digitally during lockdown. They have been supporting each other through meeting up virtually to share experiences
  • The NHSGGC Library Network’s digital library service has been very important this year – especailly the resources available via the Knowledge Netowrk and the remote literature search services that the librarians have been offering
  • Orkeny Library say their digital services have been so important this year and shared this excellent thread all about the resources they have on offer
  •  West Dunbartonshire have been further developing their digital offer throughout lockdown, and they highlighted some of the key services they offer as well as quotes from service users showing how valued these are. They offer something for people of all ages online and their e- and auidbooks mean users have a passport to reading 24/7
  • Alloa Academy Library has created a virtual library that allows pupils to explore book recommendatins and reviews, access e- and auidobooks, and also take part in activities – it looks brilliant!
  • Chris Wilson, E-Services Librarian at CultureNL, shared some information about the new For the Love of Books podcast which the library service runs – a great offer for the public!
  • Elgin Academy Library show how the digital and physical often combine to deliver a quality service. For example, they are now offering a click and collect service where pupils go online, fill out a form to select books, and these are then delivered
  • East Lothian Libraries shared a whole host of digital resources that their uses can make use of:
  1. Reading resources including eBooks, eMagazines and eAudiobooks
  2. Learn a new language with Transparent Language Online
  3. Online support for sitting your Theory Test through your library membership
  4. You can even watch live music with your library membership!
